CFR Engines Canada ULC is a group of dedicated individuals with both broad and deep knowledge of the petrochemical industry, of combustion technology, of testing and standards, and of product sales/distribution. CFR is excited about the tasks that lie ahead for the Ignition Quality Tester (IQT™); to bring new innovations to CVCC testing and to continuously provide value and confidence in global fuel quality.

As part of its growth strategy, CFR Engines Inc. (“CFR”) acquired the IQT assets and intellectual property of Ottawa based Advanced Engine Technology Ltd. (“AET”) in August 2019. A new company, CFR Engines Canada ULC, is now actively engaged in the continued manufacture and distribution of IQT systems, parts, and service from its facility in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
The IQT instrument is complementary to CFR’s product portfolio and allows CFR to provide comprehensive and innovative solutions to more customers across more markets.

The Ignition Quality Tester was first developed through institutional research in 1982. The IQT testing system was further developed and commercialized in 1994 followed by a release to the market in 1998. Since its release the IQT system has continued to serve the fuel research and testing industry with hundreds of units in reliable operation globally. The IQT is an alternative combustion-based test instrument with well-established correlation to the CFR F5 engine and produces a derived cetane number, as per the fuel specification test methods ASTM D6890 and EN15195.
